Fulbrighting at Croke Park

The Fulbright Ireland crew at Croke Park for our farewell field trip.

We stared our Fulbright grand finale day with a tour of Croke Park stadium and a visit to the GAA museum there.  As I noted yesterday, this is one of the world’s largest stadiums for amateur sports.  The stadium website explains:

Croke Park has been at the heart of Irish sporting life for over a hundred years. Boasting a capacity for 82,300 people, the stadium is the home of Gaelic games and the headquarters of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA).

The museum website explains:

The GAA Museum, as the national custodian of all the archives and artefacts of the Gaelic Athletic Association, is dedicated to promoting an appreciation of the values, culture and history of Gaelic games.

Photos in the News

Yesterday, Joanne from the Fulbright Ireland office sent a number of links to news stories about the photo show.  Unfortunately, tomorrow is the final day, and Joanne and I will be hard at work dismounting the work from the walls of O’Connell House.

In W&M News Today

Joanne A. Davidson, the Fulbright Ireland Communications & Information Officer, just sent me the link to William and Mary’s website.  Yesterday, they posted a piece about my exhibition on their main news page!

Guimarães: Birthplace of Portugal

Hamming it up!

Helping with the founding back in 1111 AD. 😉

Guimarães is an architecturally stunning town, and it is the place Portugal was born in the year 1111. Following my visit to the engineering program at the University of Minho and my Fulbright lecture/workshop, my hosts took me to visit the historic center and enjoy lunch in one of its very fine outdoor plazas.

Showing Off

Joe Dennehy and Brendan Kennedy dropped by O’Connell House to see the photo show today. That really brightened my spirits (I lost a hard drive this morning and was having it replaced at the time).

Joe teaches Business at DIT and Brendan is an Engineering Technology student who helped me iron out kinks in the identity survey I conducted in collaboration with Mike Murphy.

While I was at O’Connell House, Lisa Caulfield purchased a photo. That was another highlight of my day!

I installed dots on the photos that have sold — a total of nine to date.

Just Getting Started

I’ve uploaded more RoboSlam photos at http://roboslam.wordpress.com/2013/05/21/just-getting-started/.

Here are a few of my favorites from this post–just to whet your whistle:

Photo Launch Fun

Dave Chance did a delightful job documenting events at the opening of my first photography exhibition, InterChanges: Reflections from Dublin and Beyond.  Thanks to all my fabulous friends and colleagues for coming out to support my work!

By the way, I’ve sold six photos to date.  If there’s one you see on the wall that you’d like to purchase, please let me know.  They are selling for 80 Euro each and sales are helping me recoup the cost of producing the show.
